I will now answer the question that has been on my mind non-stop from morning until night.

"How can I use E-portfolio when I am doing student teaching in the field in the 4th quarter and for applying for a job in the 5th quarter?" Alright you caught me I am lying I have not put a great deal of thought into this question but now I will.
The E-portfolio seems to be a good place to put samples of student work and lesson plans. During fourth quarter that will probably be how I will use it most. I will also be thinking about my philosophies about teaching and learning because they will be a large part of my portfolio.
Fifth quarter I will still be able to add student work and lesson plans because I will still be student teaching but in a different setting. It will be interesting to bring my Special Education experiences into my e-portfolio. I may also adapt or create different philosophies depending on the different educational setting where I find myself. I will try and show my portfolio to potential employers and even if they do not actually look at it it will still have been a valuable experience. It is important to think concretely about these important issues in education. Knowing where I stand on issues and what is important to me will make interviews that much easier.

Webquest Revision

So I was going to do my Webquest on poetry but I finally decided that the games and things that I was trying to have my students play were too complicated. So instead I decided to combine the science unit that I will be teaching beginning in January with the poetry unit. I am going to combine ideas about paper and what it is made out of with Dr. Seuss' the Lorax. Because I have tried to make this Webquest accessible to Kindergarteners it does not have much text but I have made a teacher page and a worksheet which should provide additional support as well as an assessment piece to the lesson. I hope you like it.

WEBQUEST...Does this sound like some kind of video game or other scifi thing or is just me

I think that it might remind me of Viking Quest which is the fictitious (I think) show that Johnny Drama one of the characters on my new favorite show is on. Entourage is awesome...You can watch the episodes now and then catch up before the new season starts. Now before this blog starts to look like my other blog I will get back to the teacher information.

I think for my webquest I will have a focus on poetry because that is the literacy unit that I will be working on during my full time student teaching. I know that we read some Dr. Seuss but the website (which appears to be the official website) seems like it may be a little too challenging for my Apple IIe/novice readers to handle. So I will have to do a little more research before my next technology class.

I do think that this will fit nicely with the center time that my cooperating teacher has the children participate in. It is usually one table group at a time on a center so that will mean that the class computers will work into the plan nicely. Also the smart board will allow me to effectively model the behavior and directions for the children. Now I will have to be sure that the smartboard is set up...
